The Pricing BenchmarkEterna

Are you
charging enough?

Stylists don't tell each other what they charge. So everyone is guessing, and most are guessing low.

About 4 minutes. You get your own numbers at the end, free.

First, what's your name?

So we can talk to you like a person, not a number.

Where do you work?

Your salon's zip code, not your home. Prices only make sense next to your own area.

Where is your salon?

Pick the closest one. It doesn't have to be exact.

How long have you done extensions?

Every answer counts, whether it's year one or year ten.

Which one sounds like you?

Be honest. This changes what a fair price looks like for you.

How full is your book right now?

No judgment either way. Full books and open books both tell us something.

What method did you use on her?

Whatever you actually used. This works for every method, not just ours.

Which Medusa did you use on her?

The weft that went in on that install.

What length did she get?

How many wefts went in?

On her, that day.

About what did the hair cost for her?

Your best guess is fine. The full retail price of the hair she got.

How do you price your install?

Stylists do this every different way. We want to know which is normal.

What do you charge per row?

Your labour only, not the hair.

What do you charge per gram?

Your labour only, not the hair.

What's your hourly rate?

What you bill per hour for extension work.

Slide to set
$25$400

What did you charge her for the install?

Just your work, not the hair. Stylists tell us anything from $250 to $1,500, so there's no wrong answer.

What do you charge for a move-up?

Slide to set
$50$900

How often do they come back?

For move-ups, on average.

How do you sell the hair?

There's no right answer. We just want to know what's normal.

When did you last raise your prices?

Most stylists wait too long. You won't be alone here.

How do you pay for your space?

What do you pay each week?

Rent for your chair or suite.

Slide to set
$0$800

How much does the salon take?

How many hours a week are you doing hair?

How long did she take?

Count the talking and color matching too, not just the install.

How many extension clients do you have?

Do you know what you make on one install?

Most stylists pick the last one. You're about to find out for real.

What's the hardest part about pricing?

One line is plenty. This is the question we learn the most from.

Where do we send your results?

Your numbers show on the next screen too. The email is so you can keep them.

The hard part.

Raising your price is the hardest thing we ask stylists to do. Harder than the install. Everybody puts it off, and almost everybody waits too long.

She is not paying for hair and hours. She is paying for the person who colour matched her, who knows her hair, who she trusts near her face. That does not get cheaper as you get better at it.

Your answers are only ever shared added together with everyone else's, never with your name. The area numbers are our best estimate today. Once enough stylists answer, we'll replace them with what stylists actually told us.
